Poly, in one read
2026-10-046 minexplanationWIP
Status: work in progress. This document is being written in the open — what is missing is tracked, and everything moves with the product.
Poly is an AI workspace with chat, research, documents, images, self-reflection and trading agents.
What lives inside
- Chat — one composer for our default model, other models you can choose (including ones you connect with your own provider key), and local models through Ollama or OMM. Streaming, tools, files, voice.
- Research — multi-step research: plan, run, synthesise, and open the report as a document you can edit.
- Code — a full workspace with its own terminal, editor, and previews.
- Finance — a trading terminal (markets, tickets, tape, holders), agents that trade under guardrails, fleets that run together, and Poly Credit: the AI wallet with a ceiling.
- The Journal — this page. News, docs, changelogs, research.
How the pieces talk
Files across sections share one address scheme
(poly://v1/{section}/{store}/{id}), which is how a report, a document or an
asset can be added to a project.
The rules the product keeps
- Honest absence. Unknown is a sentence, never a zero. If the app does not know your balance, it says "balance unknown" — it does not show you 0.
- Your wallet signs your trades. A trade from a wallet you connect is signed in that wallet, and an agent works inside a budget and limits you set. The exception is a cloud-run agent: If you run a trading agent in the cloud, it trades from a keeper wallet that Poly creates and holds for you: its private key is generated and stored, encrypted, on our servers. Trades from a keeper wallet run only while we have switched keeper execution on for the service.
Where to go next
- Getting started — accounts, the first chat, a linked wallet.
- The trading terminal — markets and tickets.
- Agents & fleets — automation under guardrails.
- Poly Credit — the AI wallet.
